Loyola College, Manvi is one of the premier Jesuit institutions established in the year 2012, by the Society of Jesus, keep in mind the growing Educational needs of the people of Suvarna Karnataka region. Like other Jesuit institutions this institution too began with the people centric approach, keeping in mind the poor, down trodden, the marginalized, the first generation learners, socially disabled and those deprived of quality education. To actualize this approach the founding fathers began with the Goal of ‘Reaching the Unreached,’ with its motto ‘Education is Liberation,’ emphasising that the education has to reach the rural masses.It is only through the process of learning the people from the villages will be able to uplift their living standards.
The primary aim of the seminar lies in the motto of the Loyola institution which reads, “Educatio est liberatio,” Education is liberation; one can liberate oneself only through educating oneself. Therefore this seminar aims at identifying the important innovative methods of education pertaining to Hyderabad Karnataka region and to further deliberate upon the rising emphasis on the alternative education, the new education policy, teaching and learning assessment and the expansion of the higher education. The paradigm shift which has taken place because of the revolution of technology aiding new innovative methods of teaching and learning has always questioned the old method of education. Hence a suitable blend of the old and the new methodologies is the cry of the hour. These new methods of innovations in the field of education should adopt student –centric strategy in today’s digital era.

Our initiative to organize the national IQAC Seminar on ‘Innovations in Higher Education’ should deliberate upon the new and innovative methods on education, which in turn should equip the faculty to be relevant to the needs of the students of the present generation.
This seminar is also one of the initiatives on the academic twinning between the Loyola Institutions and Bangalore Jesuit Educational Institutions. I would like to congratulate the Mr Zakir Pasha Seminar Convenor and IQAC coordinator for taking a lead role in organizing this seminar, St Joseph’s College of Commerce, St Joseph’s Evening College for their valuable guidance, St Joseph’s Pre-University College for helping us to prepare for the seminar proceedings and St Joseph’s College for being our main sponsors.
