KARNATAKA JESUITS

Jesuit Profile

One of the General Assemblies of the Jesuit Order described a Jesuit as “one who knows that he is a sinner and yet called to be a Companion of Jesus as Ignatius was” and the Jesuit Mission as ‘the service of Faith and the promotion of Justice”. Another such Assembly called upon the Jesuits to work for a three-fold dialogue with the poor, the religions and cultures. A third such Assembly proclaimed that Jesuits are called to be fires that kindle other fires and sent to work for a three-fold reconciliation between human beings with God, among human beings themselves and human beings and creation. All this shows that Jesuits are ordinary men entrusted with an extraordinary mission which they can hope to accomplish only with the help of God’s grace, cooperation of enthusiastic volunteers and support of generous donors.
